Free Legal Consultations and
"Name Your Price" Legal Services

In an effort to help the community in these difficult times, the Hamden Connecticut Law Firm of Biller Sachs Raio & Zito, located at 2750 Whitney Avenue is offering one Saturday of free legal consultations and "Name Your Price" for legal services for Connecticut residents who have been laid off, are unemployed, in serious financial distress or who are actively serving in the military and their immediate family.

For one day, Saturday, May 16th from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Biller, Sachs, Raio & Zito in coordination with other local attorneys will provide free legal consultations for any Connecticut residents who meet the above criteria. The consultations are free with no obligation to hire or use the services of any of Biller, Sachs, Raio & Zito's attorneys. Free legal consultations will be offered in the following areas of the law: Automobile & Motorcycle Injuries, Business Issues, Criminal Defense, Divorce & Family, Foreclosures, Health, Life, Disability & Property Insurance Issues, Immigration, Landlord/Tenant, Real Estate, Wills & Estates.

Biller, Sachs, Raio & Zito will provide up to 30 minutes of free legal consultation per person/family without costs or obligations to the community. If qualified Connecticut residents are interested in retaining Biller, Sachs, Raio & Zito's legal services, they can "Name Their Price" for eligible legal services, subject to the managing partner's approval and agreement. Substantial discounts for all services will be provided.

Any interested Connecticut residents are strongly advised to pre-schedule appointments prior to the Community Appreciation Day. Appointments can be made by calling 203-281-1717 between the hours of 8:30 am -5:00 pm or emailing us at attorneys@bsrz.com. Physical space limitations will only allow for up to 7 attorneys and therefore space and time are extremely limited. Walk-ins are discouraged and will only be accepted if time and space permits. Refreshments will be available and childcare assistance during your specific consultation will be provided.

15% of any legal fees generated after payment of costs as a result of "Community Appreciation Day" will be divided equally between The Connecticut Food Bank and The New Haven Register's Fresh Air Fund.

Rules and Eligibility Requirements

  1. Biller, Sachs, Raio & Zito is a legal partnership of limited liability companies with its principal office located in Hamden, Connecticut. Biller, Sachs, Raio & Zito also has offices in Branford, Connecticut, and Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. Certain of its attorneys are admitted in the States of Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Florida, and Georgia.
  2. In an effort to assist the community in these difficult times, the attorneys and staff at Biller, Sachs, Raio & Zito are volunteering their time on May 16th to provide free legal consultations and "Name Your Price" for legal services.
  3. The offer is only open to Connecticut residents who have been laid off, are unemployed, in serious financial distress or who are on active military duty and their immediate family.
  4. Free legal consultations in the following areas of the law will be made available: Automobile & Motorcycle Injuries, Business Issues, Criminal Defense, Divorce & Family, Foreclosures, Health, Life, Disability & Property Insurance Issues, Immigration, Landlord/Tenant, Real Estate, Wills & Estates.
  5. Referrals to the Connecticut Bar Association may be available for individuals interested in other areas of the law; however, they will be subject to the requirements and fees of those attorneys not participating in this program.
  6. Free consultations will be given one per family between the hours of 9:00am - 5:00pm on Saturday, May 16th, and shall not exceed 30 minutes in duration unless under extenuating circumstances, the managing partners agree to a longer consultation. No fee, compensation or costs of any kind will be charged for these legal consultations.
  7. Any communications that occur during the course of the legal consultations will be afforded the attorney/client privilege and will be kept in the strictest of confidence.
  8. If any participant requests that Biller, Sachs, Raio & Zito provide future legal services, the participant will be provided with a schedule of customary fees charged by Biller, Sachs, Raio & Zito and can "Name Their Price" based upon their financial condition and employment situation for any proposed legal services.
  9. While Biller, Sachs, Raio & Zito and its attorneys will provide substantial discounts to eligible participants for any legal services, it must be clearly understood that Biller, Sachs, Raio & Zito and its attorneys are not obligated to agree to provide any legal services beyond the initial free legal consultation, unless the managing partners specifically agree in writing to do so. This means that while participants are free to propose a price for proposed legal services, and while discounts will be provided, ultimately the managing partners must agree with the participant upon any proposed legal fee.
  10. It is strongly suggested that appointments be made prior to "Biller Sachs Raio & Zito's Community Appreciation Day". Appointments can be made by calling 203-281-1717 between the hours of 8:30 am and 5:00 pm. to schedule your free legal consultation.
  11. Walk-ins are discouraged and will only be accepted if time permits and between or after previously scheduled appointments.
  12. Given the physical limits of our office building, no more than seven attorneys can be available for free legal consultations. At 30 minutes per consultation, there is an extremely limited amount of legal consultation slots available, therefore, pre-scheduling of appointments is strongly recommended as we cannot guarantee that walk-ins will be seen given the limited time available and limited number of attorneys available.
  13. Any persons who are handicapped or require any special accommodations must call ahead as the building is over 100 years old, however best efforts will be made at reasonable accommodations.
  14. All attorneys and staff are volunteering their time that day and only participants with serious legal questions and who are in need of legal assistance should participate. Matters under $5,000.00 can be handled by the Connecticut Small Claims Court without the need for an attorney and therefore, persons with disputes in that amount or less should first consider the services of the Connecticut Small Claims Court.

  16. For Spanish speaking participants, translators will be available on a limited basis and you should call ahead to be sure one can be available for your free legal consultation.
  17. Childcare will be made available at no cost during your legal consultation only and refreshments will be provided.
  18. All participants will be asked to read and sign that they have understood these "Community Appreciation Day" rules and eligibility requirements.
